This is our second day in ometepe, with the Gap adventures and before heading to granada, a colonial state in nicaragua, i have receive a bad news home in the philippines, regarding my family especially to the woman i love and value with my mom, she had a mild stroke, she cant talk, she was rush in the hospital in davao and she has no medical insurance, she was 63 that time my heart broke when i heared the news from my sister corina and it was verified by my long time classmate and a friend aying, i cant concentrate and i was crying like a baby.anyway too much for this drama! this is not the latinovela like maria mercedes and marimar!
my day was started with a breakfast, yes it is may 11,my 8 days with the traveling group Gadventures, it was 7.30 am when i had to check my clock, i ate banana cue and bread with beans.btw the activities for this day include riding a van for 15 minutes then ferry which tol 1.5 hours and taxi took 20 minutes then we had to ride chicken bus for 2 hours going to granada.the first day and this second day was sponsored by a local homestay
as i am done with the breakfast, we had to say goodbye to this local host, i forgot her name but that was really great accomodation, thats one thing i d like with group because they will give us a chance to live with locals and to communicate with them and to apply the language that you can learn, exactly 8.30 am we gathered together to aboard the bus and at 9 pm the bus left, only 7 of us went on the tour, we been to jesus volcano with the freshwater, then we process to langoon, and taking pictures with the langoon and the volcano
then after taking picture of that volcano we drive to go to the mountains of flora and fauna but mostly pay cultural tour of one day for 40US$ that is really expensive right? But you can see the bougenvilla, the gumamela, and the karabo, lemon grass, but i seen also some boa and termites which feed on prasley and seen lagoon and tadpoles, after that were heade to charo park for a lunch, after 15 minutes
as we hike towards the mountain s for couple of hours, oh my god i am so sweating because the weather in nicaragua is same as in costa rica very hot and humid in afternoon or evening, but because i was full after hiking and twisting and no world stop ha!we ate beef, chicken pork in pieces banana cue which we called in the philippines maruya and some vegetables, when you travel for this cultural tour of 40 US$ each, the lunch is included with the tour guide and the snacks too like panini or sandwich of your choice just like i had beef and my friend wants chicken, over all after hiking long 2 hours, at least we see the beauty of the river or lago which they called in spanish, almost 1.45 pm we try to swim in the freshwater and i am afraid there might be crocs! i almost see small fish on there water, we take a lot of pictures of this coz this might not be happening again! after a quick swim for 30 minutes we hike again going back but it was really fast! the van who fitched us after we rest for the hike and after we went to the volcano, we arrive 5 pm and we stay in the homestay and the dinner started 6 pm and i was really hungry( soy hambierto! somos comer! of course gallo pinto and beef carne is the one they serve us.
may 13 it was tuesday i remember when i wake up at 7.30 after the long hike.oh my my feet hurts and my back but i will not escape breakfast with the homestay her name is daniela, she almost had to wake up early for us she prepared her gallo pinto
after saying good bye to daniela, 8.45 the minibus left monogalpa where island of puerto azul we have to prepare for a ferry in granada/rivas route together with my fellow travellers we pack our bags and get ready to experience the chicken bus
at 9 am when we arrive in the town i mean terminal of the ferry, nicaraguan depart going to rivas fyi, there is a beggar on the ship where he used his talents to sing i mean this is not a typical beggar he just use chants and material to entertain his fellow travellers
the trip takes 15 minutes from the van then the ferry took 1.5 hours and taxi 20 minutes and the public bus for 2 hours, well for your information, the people of puerta azul,i was merge with fellow travellers from all over the world who wants to go to granada, thats the only way from ometepe to cross granada, and you have to pay 25& or 500 cordoba
back to the people mostly local people in nicaragua has middle class houses and horses and they enjoy local food, they have also fishes to get in the fresh water and the typical fruit i eaten there is mangoes and water melons it was good but mostly are farming with cows and goat are the main sources of their income.
after one hour and half crossing ferry we arrive finally in granada, thent he bus was waiting for us there at 1pm we arrive and we are fetching our things now we arrive after 2 hours, the bus has less aircon but we have to pay 15 $ each.anyway when we stop to a grocery store i bought cigars for 50 cordoba or 1 US, i had exchange of 50 US= 1,265cordoba then we are very tired and we have to stay at cocibolca pension house, it was really clean and great customer service i had to rest for a while at 4.45 we went to see the church we called merced church for an entrance of 1Us=25 cordoba, it was really great in granada
the church was closed monday so just check in their local website what times are opening for tourist,i climb the stairs and the ring bell with the twisted and narrow stairs and it was really loud noise just like you hear all the town bells, the view of the top was really fantastic! it was awesome
at 4 pm we have to decided to get down for the steps and it was really steep, my friend drink margarita and it cost around 2 $ and i drink orange juice, kelis bat their network in mobile here is movistar and claro, like satellite signal , there is no much souvenirs i seen in granada but mostly they are in the proper area like park or in the crowded restaurants nearby, so at dinner time of 7 pm we meet cousins of daniela the 3 girls .
tip: i think if you want to travel to nicaragua, just drop and see the beauty and historical colonial place of granada where the expatriats are moving there because the health and the food and apartment there is very cheap. like around 200 dollars you can have an apartment and the food is really tasty and cheap compare to costa rica.
